November 2018 MESSAGE FROM MEN’S CLUB PRESIDENT
I was beginning to fear that cooler weather would never arrive. But it’s here at last — what a relief for those of us who can’t tolerate the heat. Before moving on to November and December activities, I’d like to express the Men’s Club’s appreciation for the tremendous support for our annual Steak and Scotch in the Sukkah. More than 70 Kol Rinah members and friends enjoyed their choice of 12-ounce rib steak or salmon or grilled stuffed portobello mushroom, along with a giant baked potato and crisp salad. And of course there was the Scotch tasting following dinner.
However, before we could dine in the Sukkah, we had to build it. Pictures (on the back page) show the Men’s Club Sukkah Crew as they built it in 90-degree weather.
We are truly excited to bring back our SPORTS DINNER, November 18 at 6:30 p.m. We are fortunate to have as our guest speaker St. Louis native, Benjamin Hochman. Hochman, a graduate of the University of Missouri School of Journalism, is a sports columnist for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Hochman has received six national honors from the Associated Press Sports Editors, the “APSEs,” are considered the “Oscars” of sports writing. He will talk about his experiences with the Cardinals and his new Book “ST. LOUIS CARDINALS, THE BIG 50.”
Tickets include dinner, Q&A, raffles. You can make your reservation by going to Kol Rinah’s home page (kolrinahstl.org), scroll down to the Sports Dinner poster and click on the poster. You will be taken to the page for making reservations.
