January 2019 – ECC News

KRECC has had a fun-filled fall and is gearing up for winter. In October, University City Fire Department visited our school for fire prevention week. The fire chief showed us the equipment worn to fight fires and then walked us around the perimeter of the fire truck so that we could explore and see the water hoses and tools they use. Our Penguin and Starfish classes took a field trip to Theis Farm in October. For Thanksgiving, children enjoyed special fall themed snacks, which included mini apple pies and pumpkin yogurt dip with fruit. For Hannukah, each class decorated a candle for our school-wide menorah. Each night out our candle lighting ceremony a flame was added to the menorah. At our family Hanukah celebration, children sang songs, ate yummy latkes, and had an opportunity to mold modeling clay to look like dreidels, used spray bottles filled with water to create sand temples, and use wooden block pieces to make a menorah.

In addition to celebrating Hanukkah, the ECC partnered with The Dapper Doughnut for a school/synagogue wide fundraiser. We are so appreciative to all the families that participated in the fundraiser and look forward to selling more doughnuts next year.
