March 2019 – ECC News

Kol Rinah ECC has had so many wonderful things going on the past few weeks and with the anticipation of Purim right around the corner we have so many more exciting events to look forward to!

In January, at our Tu Bishvat/MLK Jr. Day Family Program, children from the ECC along with children from Kol Rinah Young Families group had an opportunity to visit four engaging, interactive learning stations. At each station, children and their families sampled foods associated with
Tu Bishvat as well as complete a project that went along with the theme of the table. For example, at one of the stations, the focus of the table was fruits with a hard shell and soft inside. While at this station, children and their families tried pomegranate and coconut, traced and painted their handprint for a collaborative art project, and parents were encouraged to discuss with each other a time when they may have judged someone by their hard exterior before getting to know them inside.

In February, we had our Special Person’s Breakfast. At this annual event, grandparents, relatives, and special friends got to know each other and spend time with the child who invited them, while enjoying made-to order pancakes. After breakfast, we all came together for Shabbat with Rabbi Noah, Rabbi Scott and our music teacher, Miss Karen.

We are also gearing up for summer camp. This summer’s theme is Summerpalooza. The summer will be divided into four mini-themes, giving campers the opportunity to explore each theme in depth over the course of two weeks. Kol Rinah families whose children attend other schools are welcome to enroll in our summer camp when space allows. If you are interested, please contact us at eccdirector@kolrinahstl.org for more information. We also have limited openings in our school-year program for children 6 weeks through PreK. Enrollment for new families will begin March 1.
