Hi, Kol Rinah film fans.
Tuesday, July 12, we'll discuss To Die in Jerusalem.
This is a tough movie, but I learned so much about the Israelis and the Palestinians while watching it. It was directed by an Israel journalist and film maker who studied at SIU Carbondale. The Light had a story about her.

What particularly struck me were the conversations with Palestinian women being held in a prison and the views of the mother of the dead Israeli girl and the parents of the dead Palestinian girl. This is the conflict up close.

Kol Rinah Movie Club Similar to a book club, the movie club brings together a group of people interested in movies with themes that may relate to Judaism, Israel, social justice or other topics of interest. The group will select the movies to watch that are readily available on streaming services. The group will meet over Zoom and could move to in-person, to discuss the movies. The films may explore topics such as the Israeli Palestinian conflict and the Holocaust or be contemporary Israeli and Palestinian movies exploring a wide range of topics. The selections will be up to the group. The discussion group will be led by Repps Hudson, a journalist who has written about and reported from Israel and is an adjunct instructor who has taught courses on the Israeli Arab conflict, including a Washington University course on understanding the Israeli Palestinian conflict through movies.
