This is a difficult time in so many ways--we're lonely, very anxious about health, the economy and our finances, and sad about not having Passover as we've had in the past. Tomorrow we'll be sending out lots of resources for Passover.
But right now, I want to share and remind everyone of some resources for people who need particular kinds of support right now.
There is significant financial support available for people who need help with rent, utilities, food or other necessary expenses.
Rabbi Shafrin and I have the ability to help people from our discretionary funds. Be in touch with us directly.
Jewish Family and Children's Service (being renamed "JFS) has assistance of all kinds available.
How can I get help with groceries or medicines? Call Patricia Harris at JFS at 314-513-1678 for information.
How can I get financial assistance? JFS provides financial assistance and interest-free loans to help individuals and families cope with short-term crisis situations through interest-free loans. Call Patricia Harris at JFS at 314-513-1678 for information.
How can I get help for seniors? JFS is coordinating senior assistance and can be reached through Lori Zimmerman at ElderLink at 314-812-9300.
The Harvey Kornblum Food Pantry has food available, kosher and non-kosher food, as well as Passover food. Details are here.
JFS has mental health services available at this anxiety-provoking time including free and low-cost counseling. More information is here.
The JCC is offering prepared kosher meals, as well as prepared kosher for Passover meals. They are available for anyone who needs them, regardless of ability to pay, and also for purchase at full price. Meals can also be gifted. The Passover menu and info is here. The regular menu and general info is here.
Finally, if you are able and willing to call some of our own Kol Rinah congregants, to sustain and support our own community, please reply to this email with the number of people you'd be able to call. We need many more people to volunteer to be able to reach every member of the shul.
If there are other needs that you have that we can be helpful with, please let me know.
See you on Zoom, Rabbi Noah Arnow
