Dear Kol Rinah Family,
I've spent some time this morning and the last couple of days preparing for Torah Talk (at noon).
We'll be looking at a moment when Moses is at the burning bush, when God shows Moses two "signs," turning Moses' staff into a snake back again, and his hand leprous and then whole again.
So many dynamics in this encounter are about humility - about Moses saying, "I'm not the right person for this job, I can't do it," and God insisting that Moses can and will do it, and yet simultaneously pointing out many of Moses (unrecognized!) inadequacies.
Moses' humility in leadership comes through loud and clear.
That sort of modesty from a servant-leader is so resonant with me this week.
There are, of course, so many other questions running through our week too. All I can say is that I have many questions, and few answers.
I'm very much looking forward turning off my phone (and the TV, and computer) for 25 hours. No news is good rest.
One thing that I've found inspiring this week is the outpouring of blessings and prayers for receiving the Covid-19 vaccine. A number of them have been collected here. Which is your favorite?
We'll have mincha and Kabbalat Shabbat at 3:30pm today.
