Shabbat Shalom from Rabbi Shafrin 6/11/2021

Dear Kol Rinah Family,

Thank you so much to all of our families who joined us for our first Tot Shabbat in more than a year! It was great to have your energy and joyful presence, and to be with you all for Shabbat. If you have any thoughts or feedback as we try new ways to gather and celebrate Shabbat, please contact myself, Rabbi Arnow, or Karen Kern and let us know how we can make your experience as a part of our community even better.

You should have received a letter in the mail telling you about our new Kol Rinah directory. Please make sure that the information is correct so that we can ensure that you receive our communication and are able to connect to one another.

Also, on the back side of that sheet, were a list of interests groups/activities that you might want to be a part of. It is incredibly helpful for us to get to know you better, as well as connect you to some wonderful people who share some of your interests. Please fill out these forms and send them to back the office (at our new Maryland Ave address) as soon as possible.

This afternoon, I will be leading Torah talk at noon (12:00pm). We will be digging deeply into what happened to the Jewish community in the aftermath of Korach's rebellion, what it can teach us about leadership and relationship, and how communities can build and grow in both times of conflict and times of unity. (see link below)

Tonight, we will be meeting for Kabbalat Shabbat on IN THE COURTYARD OF OUR MARYLAND BUILDING at 6:00pm. There will be no Zoom Kabbalat Shabbat. We have met our registration limit for tonight, but we will be having many future Friday night services in the courtyard, including next week (June 18) focused on families with young children. Click
here to register for future Shabbatot.

Candle lighting tonight is at 8:08 pm.

Tomorrow morning, we will be returining to the sanctuary for our Shabbat morning service and will of course also be streaming from the sanctuary starting at 9:30am.

Starting next Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm, Rabbi Arnow and I will be teaching a 5 week series on Machloket, the rabbinic style of debate and discussion which is the foundation of our multi-faceted Jewish culture and history. We are excited to share this learning with you, to dig deeply into some fascinating texts (some old and some new) and to learn more about what it takes to build a thriving spiritual community among people with many diverse opinions and experiences. See the details below.

This week we will read Parashat Korach
