Summary |
Dear Kol Rinah Family,
My sermon from last week is available here.
And at noon, I'll be teaching Torah Talk, where we'll try to understand just what exactly the Torah means when it says, "You are children to/of the Lord your God" (Deuteronomy 14:1). Link is at the bottom of this email.
In so many ways, Zoom is kind of a miracle. And livestreaming too. At times when we have not been able to gather in person, or when it would be inconvenient, when being together in person is not crucial, we've gotten pretty good about using the technology available.
But one thing that doesn't work well on Zoom at all is singing. You can listen to others sing, but the feeling of soundwaves vibrating, resonating, in and around you as you add your own voice just is not the same virtually.
We have three opportunities to be with Kol Rinah in person this Shabbat. Tonight at 6pm we'll have mincha, Kabbalat Shabbat and maariv outside in our courtyard. Since we're outside and distanced, masks are optional. It's a great way to welcome Shabbat, with some of our classic Kol Rinah Friday night melodies. We have plenty of space for more people, if you'd like to come. Please note there will not be services on Zoom tonight!
Tomorrow morning at 9:30am we'll have our Kol Chadash service, with lots of singing. We have plenty more room for people, and are not at all at capacity. Masks, properly worn, are required for indoor services.
And tomorrow evening at 7:40pm we'll have Shabbat mincha, a little learning with Rabbi Shafrin, maariv and havdalah. We could still use a couple more people to make sure we have a minyan. If you can make it, please sign up on the website or give the office a call!
Candle lighting is at 7:49pm, and Shabbat ends at 8:51pm.
Shabbat shalom, and see you soon and sing with you soon, I hope!
Rabbi Noah Arnow
