Dear Kol Rinah Family,
This is the last Shabbat of 5781.
I don't know about you, but I need Shabbat this week.
The world is a little too much right now.
If we imagine Rosh Hashanah as the the sending out of our breath and energy into the world through the awakening sound of the shofar, this Shabbat can be the slow, deep breath inwards, in preparation.
So, join us for a deep breath this Shabbat before Rosh Hashanah.
Looking back to last shabbat, I want to say mazal tov to Naomi Zaidman, her parents Craig and Amy, and her siblings Hannah and Toby, on Naomi's bat mitzvah last Saturday!
This week we also concluded our five sessions preparing for the High Holidays. A special thank you to Hazzan Joanna Dulkin for joining us this past Monday! The recordings are all available in the members-only section of our website.
Today at noon on Zoom (link below), I'll be teaching Torah Talk, where we'll look at the notion of walking in God's ways, which appears in this week's Torah portion, as well as throughout Deuteronomy.
Tonight at 6pm on Zoom we'll welcome Shabbat. Candle lighting is at 7:10pm.
Tomorrow morning services begin at 9:30am, in person and streaming (link below).
Torah reading: Parashat Nitzavim, Deuteronomy 29:9-30:20
Haftarah: Isaiah 61:10-63:9
Please note that we will not be having Shabbat mincha/maariv/havdalah for the month of September, but it will be back in October.
Shabbat ends at 8:07pm.
All the High Holiday info you need is on our website. If you are planning on coming for the High Holidays in person, please make sure you both RSVP hereand submit proof of either Covid vaccination a negative Covid test here within thirty-six hours of the beginning of the holiday. Some services are filled to capacity, so we have added services. All the details are on our website.
Wishing you a Shabbat shalom, and I hope to see you soon,
Rabbi Noah Arnow
