Shabbat Shalom and Shanah Tovah from Rabbi Shafrin 9/10/2021

Dear Kol Rinah Family,

Shanah tovah!! It's really here! The new Jewish year of 5782 has finally come and we are overjoyed at the way we started the year together. I wanted to take just a minute to thank just a few of the incredible people who worked so hard to make the entire Rosh Hashanah experience work, from Rabbi Arnow and Karen Kern working to put together incredible services, to our High Holiday Task Force that has been hard at work since April, to Howard Granok and the Ritual Committee for putting together honors, Torah/haftarah readers/aliyot, to Melissa Bellows for creating imaginative, interactive, and safe activities for our kiddos and families, and to everyone who ushered, greeted, checked people in, and helped in any way they could. Most especially, thank you to Stacey Hudson for making sure everything was in place, no matter what curveballs the universe threw at us, to Nancy Greene and Micki Kingsley for picking up so many odds and ends and ensuring all of the information and materials got to everyone who needed them, to Meir Zimand for ensuring our website, calendar, schedules, registration and communications were all working correctly. And thank you to our leadership, our Board, under the guidance of Gary Kodner and Randi Mozenter for all of your hard work and support in starting this new year on the right foot.

It was overwhelming both to hear from so many of you who were able to livestream our services and to see so many of you in person, often for the first time since the pandemic began. It truly filled my heart with joy and gratitude to be able to be together with all of you who make up our kind, considerate, thoughtful, soulful, passionate community. Your participation in whatever ways you could was the perfect energizer with which to start the year.

And we're not done yet! If you read on below, you will find all of the details for the upcoming programs and services during these Days of Awe. A quick plug, our Tashlich program is THIS SUNDAY, September 12 @ 10:00 am at the pond at Tilles Park. It should be a lovely morning of singing, praying, and casting off all of the spiritual schmutz of the last year to try to start this new year fresh.

Yom Kippur is also coming up next week, beginning Wednesday night with Kol Nidrei. You can find all of the information on all our services, including schedules, below. In order to ease the check-in process, and also out of respect for our communal observance of the holiday, please remember to bring the nametags that were sent to members with your names already written on them. We try our best not to do any writing on the holiday, and your help and cooperation will make the day run much more smoothly.

COVID Protocols
To attend services indoors, proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 36 hours of the beginning of the holiday is required (this applies to anyone 12 and over).  If you have not uploaded your vaccination or negative test to our website, please bring a copy, preferably paper, to services with you to gain entrance.

Masks are required for everyone ages 3 and up, and are required to be worn properly (over nose, mouth and chin) whenever inside, and whenever outside in proximity of other people.  If you see someone wearing their mask improperly, please ask them (kindly, gently) to wear their mask properly. If there are any problems, please alert an usher or greeter.

If you are feeling at all ill, or if you are at increased health risk, please stay home to keep yourself and everyone safe and healthy.

Our full COVID protocols are available here:
https://www.kolrinahstl.org/covid-safety

Seating and Capacity
We are grateful to everyone who has RSVP'd.  Please note that the purpose of the RSVPs was to help us plan for services, but your RSVP does not guarantee a seat.  Seating will be on a first-come, first-serve basis.  To keep to our limit of 50% capacity, we will have to limit the number of people in a service to the number of chairs set up.

We will have a monitor showing the Traditional Service set up in the Chapel space.

Thank you so much, in advance for your patience and flexibility as we all navigate a new building in a challenging year together.

Other reminders
Remember to bring the nametags that were sent to members.  If you forget them or did not receive them, we will make nametags for you when you arrive.
