Dear Kol Rinah Family,
It has been a wet week here in St. Louis. I hope you are all are managing through this. If there are ways that we here at the shul can be helpful to anyone who has been affected by the flooding, please let us know. JFS (314-993-1000) has resources available to help people as well.
This will be a quietish Shabbat here at Kol Rinah. If you're looking for a little quiet, a little respite, from a hard week or a busy world, join us tonight or tomorrow. It'll be nice to be quiet together.
Today, I'll will lead Torah Talk at noon on Zoom. We'll be looking at the Haftarah for this Shabbat, from the second chapter of Jeremiah, the second of the haftarot of admonition that lead into Tisha b'Av.
Tonight, we'll have services at 6pm in the chapel. No instruments tonight--a cappella!
Candle lighting is at 7:57pm.
Tomorrow morning, we'll be in the sanctuary at 9:30am.
Mincha/maariv/havdalah will be at 7:45pm, and Shabbat ends at 8:59pm.
Tisha b'Av (the 9th of Av--the fast day that commemorates the Temple's destruction) is next Saturday, but because we don't usually fast on Shabbat, the fast is delayed until Sunday (August 7). We'll have maariv and the reading of Eicha (Lamentations) starting Saturday night August 6 at 9:15pm. Sunday morning Shacharit and reciting/studying kinot (lamenting liturgical poems) will be at 9am, and mincha/maariv will be on Zoom at 6pm. The fast begins next Saturday night at 8:07pm and ends Sunday evening at 8:35pm.
Shabbat shalom and see you in shul,
Rabbi Noah Arnow
