Shabbat Shalom from Rabbi Shafrin 9/9/2022

Dear Kol Rinah Family,

With so much going on as we close out the Jewish year and prepare for the start of the 5783 in just a few weeks, I will get right down to business.

This month, we have seen some changes to our tefillah (prayer) experiences that are worth noting. Starting this month, we have moved our weekly Thursday morning shacharit service back to our Kol Rinah chapel at 7:00 am. While all other daily minyanim are continuing on Zoom for now, everyone is invited and encouraged to join the Thursday morning minyan in person for prayer, Torah reading, and some breakfast and schmoozing afterward. Thursday MORNING minyan will not be on Zoom, but Thursday evening's minyan for mincha/ma'ariv will be continuing on Zoom with all other weekday minyanim

Our series of Elul learning opportunities continues this Wednesday, September 14 at 7:00 pm in person at Kol Rinah. We will be taking a deep, hard look at who we have been and what we have done in this past year, as individuals, a community, and a worldwide family of human beings. We will also dive into what our Tradition, texts, and teacher call us to do in the upcoming Jewish year of 5783.

Keep your eyes peeled for more exciting events and programs as we close up this year of 5782 and look forward together to an incredible new year!

Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Scott Shafrin

The family of Shirley Fredman will be having a dedication her gravestone on September, 18th at 10 am for anyone who would care to honor and share some memories of Shirley. The ceremony will be at Beth HaMedrosh HaGodol Cemetery at 9125 Ladue Road.

We will be having Torah Talk today on Zoom at noon! Rabbi Arnow will be leading a session on Parashat Ki Teitzei and will be taking a focused look at the only mitzvah in Torah that you cannot do on purpose. It should be a fascinating learning on a very particular piece of Jewish law and tradition.

Tonight, we will have our last Shabbat at the Park of the summer! We'll be meeting at Shaw Park at 6:00 pm at the South Shelter. Please note that the Clayton Art Fair will be  going on this weekend, beginning today. The best way to avoid traffic is to go South on Hanley, turn right on Shaw Park Drive, then continue on Shaw Park Drive heading into the park, and park your car in the south parking lot.

Tomorrow, we will be meeting in the sanctuary for Shabbat morning services starting at 9:00 am (livestream link below). Please note the change in time as we return to our pre-pandemic Shabbat schedule. After services, everyone is invited to join us for a lovely kiddush and some time to socialize together in the chapel. The link for the Shabbat livestream can be found below.
