Shabbat Shalom from Rabbi Shafrin! 10/7/2022

Dear Kol Rinah Family,

G'mar Chatima Tova everyone! It was such a joy and an extreme pleasure to see so many of you, and to meet so many new folks, over the last two weeks of holidays! I was particularly gratified to get to see people in person who I have not seen in quite some time, as well as some brand new visitors, people new to St. Louis or Kol Rinah, and so many kiddos! I also appreciate everyone creating the space for our most vulnerable community members to be able to have safe, healthy spaces to gather with community, celebrate these sacred Days of Awe, and do their spiritual work together with so many other kind and compassionate individuals. Each and every one of you helped these High Holidays become memorable and meaningful celebrations, and I thank you for all of your help and simply your presence!

I also want to thank everyone who had a to play in these holiday services. From our greeters and ushers to people who opened the ark and carried the Torah scrolls, so many pieces of the experience were aided by each of your efforts. I particularly want to thank everyone who davened, who read Torah and Haftarah, who stood up to read a piece of liturgy or English reading for adding to our worship.

Many thanks also to our Ritual Committee, led by Wendy Love Anderson, for all of their hard work. Thank you so much to Rabbi Tracy Nathan and Rabbi Micah Buck-Yael for leading our incredibly soulful Avodat HaLev Service on Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur. Thank you to Karen Kern for coordinating all of our babysitting, leading Family and Tot High Holiday Services, and making sure every piece of the experience could be as welcoming as possible. Thank you to Rabbi Arnow for all of his davening and leading in the Sanctuary service for Kol Nidrei and Yom Kippur. And a HUGE thank you to our Executive Director, Stacey Hudson, and also Micki Kingsley, Nancy Greene, and Meir Zimand for their never-ending logistical support and coordination, down to the smallest detail, of these festival gatherings.  It is due to everyone's hard work and dedication that these days were so full of joy and meaning.

And the best part is the fun is not done yet! The holiday of Sukkot begins this Sunday evening, October 9. We will be having services begining on Sunday night for the start of Sukkot at 6:00pm, as well as Monday and Tuesday (October 10 & 11) at 9:00 am.
