Since the holiday starts Wednesday evening, the first two days, which are Yom Tov (festival) days, lead right into Shabbat. Usually, one is permitted to cook on a festival day only for that specific day, and not for the next day. However, since the day right after the first festival days of Pesach is Shabbat, we are permitted to cook on the first days of Pesach (Thursday or Friday) to prepare food for Shabbat, as long as we begin our preparations before the festival begins, by making what is called an eruv tavshilin.

This Shabbat, we have plenty of excitement as well! It is Shabbat HaGadol ("The Great/Big Shabbat!"), which is the Shabbat preceeding the start of Pesach (Passover). In generations past, the rabbi would give an extra-long sermon or teaching on this Shabbat to explain all the laws of Pesach, but not to worry, mine will be the regular, brief teaching on Parashat Tzav.
Speaking of the Parashah, mazal tov to Rabbi Jessica Shafrin, who will be davening shacharit (the morning service) this Shabbat in honor of the anniversary of her bat mitzvah, as well as her secular calendar birthday!

Also this Shabbat, we will be having our Kol Hamishpachah Shabbat Service at 10:45 am in the Guller Chapel. Come have a blast with our own wonderful Morah Karen as she leads us in songs, blessings, stories, and lots of joy during this energetic family service geared toward our youngest members!

This Sunday, Morah Karen will also be hosting an amazing Pre-Pesach Seder Prep program for our youngest members at 4:00 pm here at Kol Rinah! Come get ready for the excitement of the seder with some hands-on sensory learning, story, and incredible fun
We will be having Torah Talk today at noon on Zoom AND this Shabbat morning in the Community Hall at 10:15 am! I will be leading our Torah Talk focusing on the todah, the offering of thanksgiving, and what it can teach us about community, spiritual connection, and cultivating an attitude of awe, wonder, gratitude, and kindness.
Also, if you would like to read Rabbi Arnow's detailed and insightful sermon from last Shabbat (Parashat Ki Tissa), you can read it here.
Candle Lighting Friday night is at 7:16 pm.
Parshah: Tzav
Shabbat HaGadol
Torah Talk: 10:15am
Kol HaMishpacha Family Service: 10:45am
Torah Reading: Leviticus 6:1 - 8:36
