Shabbat Shalom from Rabbi Shafrin 6/23/2023

Dear Kol Rinah Family,

Thank you so much to everyone who came out last Shabbat and showed so much care and kindness to me and my family. It was an incredible experience to be gathered so close with this community I hold so dear. I also wanted to thank Marsha Birenbaum, Barbara Shamir, and everyone who arranged the setup for last Shabbat, as well as to Barbara Shamir, Sarah Sorenson, Karen Kern, and Rabbi Noah Arnow for their heartfelt words, their leadership, their friendship, and their overwhelming thoughtfulness. And thank you so much for all of your kind words, your well wishes, and your caring thoughts as I wrap up my time as a rabbi at Kol Rinah at the end of June. It was truly an incredible celebration that my family and I will never forget.

In addition, there are a lot of other wonderful and noteworthy happenings going on around the Kol Rinah community! As Pride Month continues, I wanted to thank Jen Baer, Stacey Hoffman & Naomi Hoffman for working together over the last few months to help us celebrate Pride here at Kol Rinah.

In addition to last Shabbat's Pride-themed kiddush, we will be joining with other Jewish organizations and the greater St. Louis community this Sunday at noon for the annual Pride Parade. Gates open at 10:00 am, and the easiest way in is to enter through Gate 4 which is located at Chestnut & Broadway. We will be meeting further down on Chestnut between 7th Street and Broadway, and you should be able to find us near the Kol Rinah banner.

We will also having an amazing paint and sip event this coming Tuesday, June 27 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Kol Rinah. We will have alcoholic and non-alcoholic treats, as well as a bevy of Pride goodies to create and give away. Please click the banner below to sign up and bring friends for a wonderful night together!

Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Shafrin

This Shabbat is going to be an amazing experience for all, and we hope to see you both tonight and tomorrow morning!

We have, however, received an alert that some construction may have disrupted the eruv.  To ascertain the status of the Eruv for this Shabbat, please call the Eruv hotline at (314) 863-1811 after 12:30 PM today.

This Friday night will be the last time that Rabbi Arnow, Karen Kern, Will Sol, and myself will all be leading Kabbalat Shabbat together at 6:00 pm in the Chapel! We are going to start Shabbat right with some joyous singing and we hope to see you there!

Also this Shabbat is our fantastic Kol Chadash Musical Service, starting at 9:30 am this Shabbat morning. If you have not tried it, come and see a new way to go through our Lev Shalem siddur with some gorgeous tunes, thoughtful Torah discussion, and a shared community singing and davening experience that cannot be found anywhere else.

We will be NOT having Torah Talk this Shabbat, but will be having an in depth Torah discussion as a part of our Kol Chadash service. As a reminder, Torah Talk will no longer be meeting on Fridays, but will be an in-person Shabbat learning experience only.

We will not be meeting for services on Shabbat afternoon for mincha/ma'ariv this week.
