It was a beautiful, healing and hopeful evening, and I'm so grateful to our whole team and all of our partners and friends who made it happen and happen smoothly and safely.
One message I emphasized, and believe: Coming to the whole weekend with Neshama Carlebach is one of the best responses to this attack I can imagine.
This weekend really will be spectacular--powerful musically and spiritually, and a special opportunity for our community to be together for the best reasons.
Tonight, Neshama Carlebach (together with her two sons!) will be leading services, starting at 6pm in the sanctuary. It's going to be a fabulous Friday night.
Candle lighting is at 7:36pm.
Tomorrow, we'll have our musical Kol Chadash service, beginning at 9:30am in the sanctuary. Neshama will be speaking and teaching during the middle of that, probably about 11am, during our usual Kol Chadash Torah conversation spot.
Shabbat ends at 8:34pm.
Sunday morning (doors open at 10:30am), we'll have a great festival for families with kids:
• 11am "Musical Moment" with world-renowned artist Neshama Carlebach
• 11:30am-1:30pm Games and activities:
• Premier Entertainment balloon artist and face painter
• Mad Science demonstration station
• Kinetic Tapestry circus juggler
• Baby play zone
• Games, crafts, and more!
• 11:30am-1pm Food & drinks available for purchase
• 12:15pm kids & families Beach theme Yoga with Michael Tzinberg (Mr. Michael)
• 12:45pm kids & families Extreme Dance Fitness with Michael Tzinberg (Mr. Michael)
All are welcome!
Sunday afternoon at 4pm Neshama Carlebach will be doing a full concert at Clayton High School. Tickets are still available here.
Every event this weekend is going to be exceptional--don't miss anything!!!
Thursday, August 14 at 1pm at the St. Louis Art Museum, we'll be having a special tour of Jewish "touchpoints" of the museum. All are welcome, but please do register.
The High Holidays are coming, and all the details have gone out by mail to our members, and are on the website here. If you would like to participate in services in any way, by having an aliya, leading a part of the service, sounding shofar (we could use a couple more people), and more, please let me know, and I'll forward your email to the appropriate person.
Let us not forget about the hostages, who have been in captivity now 679 days, amidst the ongoing war in Gaza, where civilians continue to suffer.
May the one who makes peace in the heavens make peace over us, and over all Israel, and over all who dwell in the world.
Shabbat shalom and see you at shul,
Rabbi Noah Arnow
