Shabbat Shalom from Rabbi Arnow 9/26/2025

Dear Kol Rinah Family,

FOMO is a terrible thing.  ("Fear of missing out," if you're not familiar.)

I had severe FOMO over Rosh Hashanah.  I really wanted to be hanging out with the tots in the courtyard, with Karen Kern.

I also wanted to be singing with Rabbi Brad Horwitz, Gavriel Savit-Woods, Will Soll and Jeremy Shanas and all the people in the Staenberg Family Community Hall.

When teens were gathering, led by Cindy Kalachek, I wanted to stay and schmooze with them, and hear their reflections on this new year.

Nancy Berg's teaching on silence and poetry I know would have nourished my soul and quieted my FOMO.

My relationships would have improved if I had sat with Fannie Bialek and the learners with her studying enacting teshuvah in relationships.

I would have loved being with so many of our families in the courtyard for the family service, led again by Karen Kern, with help from some teens.

Sitting out with the greeters would have been delightful, saying hi to everyone as they came in, seeing familiar and new faces.

Hanging out in the hallway with our executive director, Stacey Hudson, who made sure everything was going smoothly, smiling to each other as we saw everything happening on schedule, would have been delightful as well.

This is all to say, Rosh Hashanah was beautiful, and smooth, and lovely, and I wanted to be at every place/moment of it.

Thank you to everyone who had a hand in helping us welcome 5786.
