As I write this entry, I am thinking about how fragile life is and how important it is to embrace the good and value people while we still share the earth with them.
This week our Kol Rinah family lost a true mensch and one of my favorite people, Bill Solomon. He was a mentor to me and the best example of how to live with kindness, generosity, humility, love and a perpetual smile. I know his memory will be a blessing to us all.
I also lost a matriarch of my family, Marilyn Mozenter, as well as my mother’s good friend, Wilma Hollander. These were strong, passionate women who were ahead of their times, forging paths and voices for my generation of women.
Our hearts go out to their families as we mourn as well as to other losses we have recently experienced and unfortunately will have experienced by the time this column is published.
How frequently do we forget the big picture and become embroiled in petty grievances, divisive behavior and fail to honor differences of opinions and show respect to one another?
We all know that life can be short and that even very long lives never seem long enough. In honor of those we love, let us pledge to be a little nicer, a little more generous, a little more accepting and, well, a little more Bill.
Zei Gesundt,
Randi
