A Renewed Focus on Finance and Engagement
Leadership and Engagement
The leadership is changing the name to ENGAGEMENT, rather than membership, with the intent of refocusing the mission of engaging more people, (members and non-members) in new, innovative ways. The VISION statement on our website reads:
“A dynamic and forward-looking congregation where all generations come together to experience Judaism in innovative ways.”
What do we need to do, to live up to that statement? We have recruited Joel Portman to be our new VP of Engagement. We believe that he can help us explore some new perspectives, help us define the strategies, encourage younger involvement, and most important, recruit greater involvement from this board. WE NEED YOU TO PARTICIPATE! The engagement and involvement of PEOPLE make a congregational community.
Participation rates are declining.
So what do we need to do?
- We need someone to step up and be willing to chair our Engagement committee, work with Joel and our leadership.
- Our board needs to place a stronger emphasis on membership and engagement.
- Once we have leadership and a proactive committee assembled, we need to better understand our members, propose innovative solutions and programming that include ALL demographics, particularly younger families. This might include a strategic plan and Tony Granillo’s proposed (currently mothballed) “OPEN SPACE” engagement program.
- We need to create effective and connective engagement among groups, committees and organizations.
- This needs to be a strategic and urgent priority for this board, with involvement from our rabbis and staff.
