May 2022 Families and Youth

We had a very successful Tot Shabbat Purim party that filled the Community Hall. Children came in costume, sang, and heard the story of Purim through a very cool puppet show from Karen Kern. It was also nice to have our Shin Shin, Roi there. What a joy!   Tot Shabbat continued April 9th with some fun activities in anticipation of Passover. On April 17th, K-5th graders walked the “Path to Freedom”, exploring the traits one needs to...Read more...

March 2022 Families & Youth

Young Family programming has been low key as we were waiting for Covid numbers to fall before gathering indoors. We are excited and hopeful that March will be our month! We will gather for a Purim-themed Tot Shabbat on Saturday, March 13th. We will wear costumes, shake graggers, and tell the story of Purim. Tot Shabbat will continue monthly as long as it's safe to gather! Stay tuned for more fun for Passover, Lag B'omer and beyond!Read more...

January 2022 Families & Youth

We ended 2021 with a bang! We finished our final Tot Shabbat of the year in November, and on December 5th, families gathered with the rest of the congregation to "Light up the Night" with song, glow sticks, donuts, and a beautiful and exciting performance of a Fire Dancer from Circus Kaput! We are so grateful to Brotherhood, Sisterhood, and Women's Social group for partnering with us to make that magical evening happen. And thank you to our...Read more...

L’Shana Tovah! We are so grateful to be coming out of a summer that was rich with events for young families. We were able to gather outdoors for 6 different services this summer, and it was a pleasure to see kids together laughing, playing, and singing!   We are pleased to offer Family Services for all days of the High Holy Days. We will have a tent in the courtyard so we can be protected from the elements, but will be able to sing and...Read more...

May 2021 Families & Youth

Young families have had some really fun and creative events this year, and they just keep getting better! Over Pesach, families had a chance to “Escape From Egypt”. More than 15 families came to our outdoor obstacle course where they learned about the journey from slavery to Mt. Sinai. All activities were hands-on, interactive, and safe. Families were so happy to have an engaging and educational outdoor adventure. For photos, click...Read more...

March 2021 Families & Youth

Though it's hard to imagine Spring is coming, Young Families enjoyed a little gardening with our Tu Bishvat Planting program. Families planted parsley seeds and radishes, and many gardeners are beginning to see their seeds sprout!    Purim was great fun! We had a Zoom costume party with a goody bag of surprises and items to use during our party. We showed off our costumes, sang some songs, and had a craft project...Read more...

January 2021 Families and Youth

Young families have been up to some fun and creative activities! We were so excited to have several families join Chef Jennifer Stempel on Zoom to make pretzel menorahs. They looked fabulous and tasted even better. Twenty-four families helped paint tiles for an art installation, designed by our own Gary Kodner. The finished product has been assembled and is on display in our new building.    Click here to view our community art...Read more...

November 2020 Families and Youth

Though we can’t physically be together, our Young Families have worked hard to continue to build a community during this complicated time. Being together on Zoom for Havdallah and some fun High Holiday services were certainly highlights in an uncertain time. Karen Kern brought her guitar and beautiful voice to both Young Family services and Elementary services for both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. When we gather together online, we see the...Read more...

September 2020 Families and Youth

Young Families has been making the best out of being apart! We finished our Discovering Differences program virtually, and we learned a lot of great skills from our friends at WeStories. We are grateful to the Jewish Federation of St. Louis for their funding, and we are continuing this great work this coming year!  Families have also continued to meet each Sunday morning for a quick Havdalah and check-in with one another, via Zoom. We talk...Read more...
