March 2019

So many of our families came together on January 21st to celebrate Tu BiShvat and MLK Jr. Day. It was a great opportunity to combine the themes of both holidays of doing good for our world by being kind and welcoming to others and respectful to our planet. Kids enjoyed fun holiday themed activities and snacks, sing alongs with Ms. Karen, and story time with Ms. Liz.

While it is so valuable to have events and programming catered specifically to children, it is also wonderful and impactful to have opportunities for people of all ages in our community to be present together. We aim to provide excellent kid programming at Kol Rinah, but also strive to make services accessible to kids to create an intergenerational community. In January, we debuted a set of Busy Bags, activity bags that are available during services at any time, not just when we have kids programming. Kids can use these activities in services to stay engaged and interested and to make being in services more fun and a positive experience for them. Activities range from felt Shabbat kits, aleph bet matching spoons, popsicle stick puzzles, and more! Check them out next time you are at services (they might even be fun for some adults as well!).

Our regular programming has been a great success as well. Our January Rhythm ’n’ Ruach had such great attendance we were spilling out of the room! Make sure to be part of the fun and meaningful Jewish experience for your children by joining us at First Friday Night for Families on March 1st and April 5th, Rhythm ’n’ Ruach on March 9th, and Tot Shabbat on March 30th and April 13th. Join us at the annual Purim Carnival as well on March 10th, 4:00-6:30 for games, prizes, dinner, and a silent auction! With the theme of Candy Land, this year’s carnival will be the SWEETEST yet!
