Shalom all!
We are so pleased that Brotherhood has started in person programs. First we had the wonderful Lag B’Omer and recently we had an in person program as part of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs national convention “A Virtual Taste of Convention” in our new Kol Rinah building!!!! We had to go out to the courtyard to eat, but it was wonderful being inside with a dozen men all fully vaccinated. We were able to socialize without masks and participate in 3 great programs, 1st a one hour special with Tal Brody – Israel’s Mr. Basketball. Brody was drafted #12 in the NBA draft, but chose instead to move to Israel and lead Maccabi Tel-Aviv to Israel's first European Basketball Championship in 1977. We then had joined a Whiskey Tasting event and won a $50 coupon for our own event after Abe Horowitz’s grandson Michael answered a Whiskey question. We then had a Deli lunch (not in the building) and ended with hearing a wonderful keynote address by Rabbi Sharon Brous from IKAR in LA – her message was about how many lonely people there are, and how that was tremendously increased during the Pandemic. She stressed how the community needs to be engaged and help those who are lonely or in need. One way is by being at a Minyan to say Amen, on Zoom or in-person.
We are looking forward to finally honoring our 2020-21 Man and Youth of the Year Maurice Guller and Jane Kalina at an in person lunch reception at our new Kol Rinah building in the fall!
Refuah Shleymah! Our thoughts and prayers for a full and speedy recovery for all who have or are recovering from Covid or are undergoing medical surgeries and procedures.
