Rain threatened the morning of May 18, the day for our Lag B’Omer celebration. But the sky cleared and the event went off as planned. Kol Rinah members, including dozens of kids, enjoyed games, music and ice cream. The bonfire was ignited and, as if on cue, the Clayton fire truck arrived. As the kids swamped the truck, they each received plastic fire helmets from the firefighters.
On May 26, we hosted an evening to say farewell to our Shin Shin, Roi Mast. Following a tasty Israeli-style falafel dinner, Roi shared what life is like for Israeli teenagers after they graduate from high school. He said that all graduates are required to enlist in the Israel Defense Force. Yet, some take a gap year and travel or serve as a Shin Shin, which he compared to an ambassador. After that gap year, however, they too must enlist in the Israel Defense Force. His presentation was elucidating and well appreciated.
We’re all looking forward to our Steak and Scotch in the Sukkah with a taste of Talmud!
