Shalom! My name is Karen Kern. I am the new Engagement Coordinator at Kol Rinah. I am new and old at the same time! How can this be? I am ‘old’ in that I have been a Kol Rinah Synagogue member since our beginning and many of you know me as our early childhood center music specialist and Kol Rinah song leader. I am so happy to be continuing these jobs. I am ‘new’ as the Engagement Coordinator and in this capacity, I will be adding in so much more.

 

I will continue the programs and events developed by Melissa Bellows with our Young Families Group and I am looking forward to working with the parents and children in new activities.

 

For KoREH, I will work with Rabbi Shafrin to assist him with organizing the classes and curriculum for our growing religious school.

 

And in this expanded role, I will serve as the staff liaison to assist our KR community with the scheduling, logistics, coordination and creating of programs for all our members. I am excited to take on this new role. I already knew that our Kol Rinah community was a wonderful one. However, I have to say that in the past couple of weeks, as I have been transitioning into my new role, I have rediscovered that we truly are the most amazing, caring, dedicated and hardworking Jewish community! Kol Rinah is the best!

 

We have so many wonderful things coming up over the summer months. We have First Fridays Family Kabbalat Shabbats and Young Families Tot Shabbats scheduled through August. The third Friday of each month brings Kabbalat services with a BYO picnic to Shaw Park. Our KR Circles provide opportunities to connect with one another through shared special interests. With gardening, fiber arts, book and movie clubs, we continue to find ways for our members to connect. And we even have our very own softball team, the Maccabees, for our KR sports fans. August 21st brings our Kol Rinah Summerfest! This all-day music event is going to be absolutely amazing! So many great opportunities to get involved and be connected!
