Summary |
Sisterhood is wrapping up its membership campaign. If our original membership letter to you has fallen through the cracks, please try to take care of it shortly, as we need to send in the final information to Women’s League before the end of February. We need every one of us to be a part of Sisterhood as your dues enable us to continue giving back to the shul in many areas.
We’re starting to work on our annual Torah Fund campaign. This is the 80th anniversary of Torah Fund. The theme for this year's Torah Fund Campaign is Chazak v'Ematz (Strong & Courageous). This year we are honoring Irene Belsky z"l who was dedicated to continuing our tradition of supporting Torah Fund at Kol Rinah.
The money we raise each year for Torah Fund is sent to the Torah Fund at the Jewish Theological Seminary. The Torah Fund campaign began in 1942 as a scholarship fund. In 1963 it merged with the Mathilde Schechter Residence Hall campaign that provided housing for undergraduate students. In time the campaign expanded to identify additional needs for specific projects and scholarships that support all five schools.
In the next month or two, we will be sending out a letter explaining the Torah Fund campaign in detail, asking that you make a contribution. The monies collected across the country have had a tremendous impact on JTS around the world, and every donation makes a difference to Conservative Judaism.
We are starting to plan for the annual Sisterhood Shabbat, which we are hoping to schedule for late May or early June. If you would like to help in the planning or participate in the service, please let me know.
We are always looking for ideas for programming that focus on your interests. If there are issues or subjects that you would like to see us look into, please let me know.
I hope you can enjoy all or some of what Kol Rinah is offering for the upcoming Purim Holiday. Chag Purim Sameach!
