January 2020 Sisterhood Message

Happy New Year. Such a different type of observance than our New Year of several months past. The first one brought so many new members and old members together to celebrate and observe the High Holidays together. This one is celebrated in a more celebratory, more individual way. They both have their place in our lives. The secular new year, 2020, that we observe will bring us closer and into our new Maryland Avenue building, a source of excitement and expectation.

Sisterhood will continue to work to have simchas observed so happily in our new building and has been pleased to continue to provide kiddushes in the Journey building. We are so grateful for the support we receive from our congregation which in turn enables us to help build community at our shul and to support each other and also fund many needs of Kol Rinah. We want to especially thank Steve Keyser for his sponsorship through the Faye Keyser Seudah Fund of both the Nov. 16th Veteran’s Day Shabbat and the November 23rd kiddush, honoring Steve’s and Nancy’s 12th Anniversary, and to Harlan Heller and his family in honor of Harlan’s 50th anniversary of his Bar Mitzvah.

Upcoming is Trivia Night, February 29th at the JCC, a new venue this year, a joint venture with Men’s Club. Bring your own dinner, sweets or snacks to nosh as we try to go up and answer the challenging questions. As usual, some snacks and drinks will also be provided. Spread the word, bring a friend, start making up your table!

Sisterhood Shabbat is later this year, on March 21st will be combined with our Torah Fund plans. The theme is Chesed, kindness, a theme that is felt strongly at Kol Rinah. More information will follow, but please save that Shabbat.

All our best for a happy and healthy 2020, a continuation of 5780.
