A Big Weekend @ Kol Rinah and Shabbat Shalom from Rabbi Arnow 12/10/2021

Dear Kol Rinah Family,

We have a BIG WEEKEND at Kol Rinah--read to the bottom to see everything happening!

Please note that the
eruv (which permits carrying objects outside on Shabbat) is still down due to construction, although I hear that it is getting closer to being repaired.

My d'var Torah for this week's Torah portion, Parashat Vayigash, that was published in the St. Louis Jewish Light,
is available here.

Today at noon, Rabbi Shafrin will be teaching Torah Talk on Zoom.
Please note that there will be no Torah Talk December 24 and December 31.

Candle lighting tonight is at 4:22pm (and next week starts to get later).

And now--this Shabbat!!!
All the details are here.
Have you missed singing in person?  Then come this Shabbat!  Deborah Sacks Mintz is a graduating rabbinical student (from JTS, my alma mater), a singer, musician and prayer leader, and a composer who came out with her own first (and terrific!) album last year.

Tonight starting at 7pm we'll have Deborah Sacks Mintz leading us in Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv in the Sanctuary (livestreamed as well).  Then, we'll move to a different space for some learning and singing.  Eat dinner before you come!

Saturday morning, she'll lead Shacharit and Musaf and give a d'var Torah (all live-streamed from the sanctuary).  Then we'll all go home for lunch.

Come back at 3:30pm for mincha, and then Deborah will be teaching again, at around 4:15pm.  We'll have maariv at 5:15pm, followed by a musical havdalah and malaveh malka - literally, "accompanying the queen," singing and music to accompany Shabbat's leaving, to draw out the end of Shabbat a little bit.  This will be a more intimate time, so come if you want to be part of a smaller group.

Everything at Kol Rinah is free.  If you are able to pre-register, that will be helpful, but walk-ins are welcome, as long as they have proof of vaccination.

Please note also that services Friday night and Saturday morning will be livestreamed as usual (link below), but otherwise the programs will be in-person only.

A huge thank you to the Irvin and Dolores Rubin Music Fund as well as the Leo and Sara Wolf Adult Education Fund for sponsoring the events at Kol Rinah.

Saturday night at 8pm, Deborah will be doing a concert with St. Louis's own Eitan Kantor at Ma Tovu, in the Tower Grove neighborhood.
Details here.  That's the only part of the weekend that has a cost.

Kol Rinah's Annual Meeting will be on Sunday at 4pm.  Members should have received information about that separately.

The
Fast of the 10th of Tevet ("Asara b'Tevet") will be on Tuesday, from 5:46am-5:14pm. Please note that minyan will be at 7am and 6pm as usual, that day.

Wishing you a Shabbat shalom, and I hope to see you this Shabbat,

Rabbi Noah Arnow
