Shabbat Shalom from Rabbi Arnow 3/10/2023

Dear Kol Rinah Family,

How many people were at Kol Rinah for Purim? I can't tell you; I didn't count, and I don't think anyone else did either.

But I can tell you that it *felt* full, joyous, silly, and fun.

Whether we count people, or need to, and how we count--these are the questions and conversatons that emerge from the census at the beginning of this week's Torah portion, Ki Tissa (starting with Exodus 30:11).  I'll be speaking in my sermon Saturday morning about counting Jews, and the apparent decline of Jewish numbers and percentages in various awards and other prestigious areas.  The very short summary: it's complicated.  But come tomorrow for more!

Going back to Purim for a moment, lots of people deserve thanks for making this a wonderful Purim, but three of the people who worked the hardest for it were Stacy Abeles, Stacey Hudson and Karen Kern, who together coordinated the beautiful Mishloach Manot we delivered to every household of our congregation.

Today at noon, Rabbi Shafrin will lead Torah  Talk on Zoom, focusing on another iteration of the covenant that's in this week's parasha.

Candle lighting is at 5:45pm.

Tonight at 6pm, we'll have our full, soulful, musical Friday night service.  We've been having some new folks join us--come check it out!

Tomorrow morning is Brotherhood Shabbat, with a kiddush to follow.  Rabbi Shafrin will be leading Torah Talk again at 10:15am.

Shabbat afternoon, mincha will be 5:35pm, and Shabbat ends at 6:49pm.

Remember to change your clocks, and spring forward Saturday night, when Daylight Savings Time begins.

Sunday, Brotherhood will honor our Man and Woman of the Year, Marshall Myers and Micki Kingsley.  Mazal to both of them!

And there's much more happening--
check out our website for all the details on everything!

Shabbat shalom and see you in shul,
Rabbi Noah Arnow
