Kol Rinah ECC has had many wonderful things going on these past couple of months. Though our holiday family programs have looked different this school year due to COVID-19 restrictions, it hasn't stopped us from learning and celebrating Thanksgiving and Hanukkah while at school. The teachers have been so creative and thoughtful in planning activities for their classrooms. As Thanksgiving approached, circle time stories and discussions focused on...Read more...
What a wonderful September and October we have had here at KRECC. In September, classes spent a lot of time learning about bees and honey, apples, round challah, and sounds of the shofar in preparation for Rosh Hashanah. It was wonderful peeking into the classrooms and seeing children dipping bubble wrap in yellow paint and stamping it on paper to create a honeycomb bee hive effect. In some of the older classes children were seen eating a...Read more...
It has been wonderful being back at school since the middle of June. Classes have spent the summer months learning about farms, camping, the circus, and space. It was fun to walk down the ECC hall and notice within the classrooms tents set up for camping in the dramatic play area, barns built from blocks in the wooden blocks area, and sun, moon, and stars made from playdough in the sensory area.
On August 17, we will welcomed in the...Read more...

Our Kol Rinah Early Childhood Center serves children ranging from six weeks of age through Pre-Kindergarten. Most of the families that attend the center live in the nearby neighborhoods. We take pride in the fact that everyone looks out for each other. When a child misses school, their friends will join in song to say "we wish you well”. If you ask any family in our program, they will...Read more...
When Elyse and I give tours of our center to prospective families, one of the most frequently asked questions is what are you most proud of about your school. We both answer, our KRECC school family! Over the past few weeks, we have rallied together as a school community to take what we do in the classroom and transform it to virtual learning. Through email, pinterest groups, ZOOM meetings, and Facebook, teachers have been able to stay connected...Read more...
KRECC has started off 2020 by making the most of the cold winter days. When the weather isn’t conducive for playing outside, teachers have gone out and collected fallen snow and brought it inside for the children to play with. On the rare occasion when the winter weather turns out to be 60 degrees, you take advantage of it and you take the children outside!
In February, we celebrated Tu Bishvat with activities in our ECC...Read more...
This fall season has been packed full of so many fun adventures in learning and family programs. For Fire Safety Prevention Week, the children of the ECC had a chance to meet some of the firefighters from the University City Fire Department. During their visit, students made their way around the perimeter of the firetruck taking notice of the variety of axes, ladders, and other equipment.
The Starfish and Penguin classes along with some of...Read more...
KRECC has had a terrific start to the school year! We started off the year with a back to school event at Shaw Park on Sunday, August 18. The children had a great time running through the splash pad, exploring the playground, and visiting the ice cream truck where they got to pick their ice cream treat. Parents had the opportunity to connect with each other while watching their children interact with friends.
What an incredible summer camp we had here at KRECC! Camp kick-off started with a family barbecue, snow cones, and fun and entertainment that included Silly Jilly the clown and airbrush tattoos. Children in our oldest classes took field trips to the History Museum, Earth Dance, and Tutti Frutti. In addition, children in some of the classes also had a chance to flip and tumble on the Gymnastics Bus.
Now we are gearing up for 2019-2020...Read more...
