March 2020 Brotherhood Message

CH-CH-CH-CH CHANGES …

A salute to David Bowie with changes at Men’s Club. The biggest change is the name: Kol Rinah Brotherhood is the new moniker. Men’s Clubs across the country have been making that change for several reasons. Upmost, is that the word club has a somewhat old-fashioned undertone, leading to drops in membership and difficulty in recruitment. But we are not changing in name only. We have restructured the Brotherhood and added events we hope will appeal to younger men.

Changes in officers

The new treasurer is Bob Olshan, a past president of Brotherhood and past treasurer for the Midwest Region of the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs. He replaces Donald Pearline who served as treasurer at BSKI, as well. Countless thanks to Donald for his many years of number-crunching and bean-counting – helping to keep the Brotherhood in the black.

The new secretary is Mitch Halpern, who is the husband of Amy Friedman. Congratulations to Bob and Mitch.

World Wide Wrap

February 2nd, more than 20 religious school kids and a few parents participated in the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs’ annual World Wide Wrap (Tefillin).

OTHER COMING EVENTS

March 14 – Brotherhood Shabbat

March 21 – Ax Throwing Tournament

April 20 – Light your Yellow Yom HaShoah candles (provided by Kol Rinah Brotherhood) in the evening.

Shalom Aleichem,
