November 2020 Brotherhood Message

IT’S REALLY FALL
Our trip around the sun has brought us to autumn with shorter days, leaves ablaze in color and cooler nights as we head toward winter. With the fall season comes the annual Brotherhood Steak & Scotch in the Sukkah ‒ with a Taste of Talmud, but this year it was virtual. We couldn’t “smell that smoke.”
We have gladly welcomed the return of Shabbat morning services, albeit by live streaming, and we continue to look forward to returning to worshipping live and face-to-face.
Since our in-person events remain on hold, the Brotherhood has been providing remote activities to help keep our Jewish souls active. For example, weekly we forward links provided by the Federation of Jewish Men’s Clubs that include topics such as David and His Sons: No Wonder He had Problems with His Children, Leading the Virtual Seder, Yiddish Alive, The Jewish Roots of Anglo-American Law and dozens more.
It’s typically a busy time of year for the Brotherhood. We missed serving pancakes and more for the first day of KoREH.  We would begin preparing for Build-a-Pair workshop in which the Brotherhood provides kits to the fourth graders to build a faux pair of Tefillin, which they use for the World Wide Wrap event in February. And it would be time to prep for the Brotherhood’s annual Hanukkah get together. Frankly, I’m getting a little bit tired of saying, “Next year.” But… here’s hoping and looking for next year.
Shalom Aleichem,
Max Brown
