March 2019 Membership News

Membership committee started the year off with an "earth warming" Tu Bishvat Shabbat dinner for our Boomer members. We hope to build on this small group program concept next year as well. We would like to encourage more Kol Rinah members to celebrate this creative and educational tradition in their homes with other members who may live near by. It lends itself to many variations - it can be intergenerational, as little or as much food as you prefer, on a non-yontif night or afternoon, as much or as little Hebrew as is comfortable, based on relevant modern or traditional themes, Israel centered or international, and much more! We hope to get Tu Bishvat seder guides out in enough time for families or couples or singles to plan ahead. Stay tuned for next year.

Our next plan is headed for Purim!

There are a lot of opportunities for fun on Purim but the membership committee leads on the Shpiel or after party - designed for those of legal drinking age! These plans are not yet ready for public viewing! Having two months of Adar gives us more planning time. Just don't let March 20 sneak up on you! Look out as details become available.

Have any of you been to the Hanley House in Clayton? We are looking for a time to meet with the guide there to learn about the illustrious Hanley family and how they influenced the forming of our address namesake. If you have been there, please share with us any information you learned about the Hanleys.

Believe it or not, some smart folks at Kol Rinah are already looking for ideas to welcome new members (or potential members) around the High Holidays!

It's never too early to plan, especially when we know the Jewish calendar keeps bringing around for us more opportunities to celebrate and grow!

We welcome your ideas for new or to redo programs that bring our membership together - for ritual, or social, or musical or educational opportunities.

Thank you
