Membership News

The membership committee meets all year to create programs for our Kol Rinah family. We are part of the High Holiday planning to greet long time members and welcome new faces. We sponsor the New Member Shabbat for those who have joined within the year. We add to the fun and frolic of Purim with our “after parties”. We celebrate holidays with a variety of educational and entertaining evenings aimed for our “Boomer age” congregants (read ‘sans children’). But we are here to support programming for all ages and interests. Our main goal is to make our synagogue a comfortable and engaging place whether it be at a Shabbat or holiday service or a social gathering or an educational event.

Since our last New Member Shabbat in November we have welcomed Skylar and Zeke Swim, Linda Carton, Ron and Bette Abeles, Leora Spitzer, Serralesa Ivener and Alex Befeler and family, Debra Horwitz, Joel and Leah Frankel and son Elijah with a colorful, fruitful gift basket filled with different treats and greetings from the congregation. The Young Families committee also welcomed 12 of our ‘brand new members’ born this year. 

Purim this year was turned into one big Shpiel – from the Megillah reading itself to the PopUp party afterwards.
Tu Bishvat found us dining on many kinds of nuts and fruits from the Holy Land during our Tu Bishvat Seder, along with wines and food for a complete Shabbat dinner.

Our next task is to help with the exciting move-in plans in September. We’d like to create a time capsule so we will be looking for contributions from you. 

There are several summer gatherings planned by other committees that we support and hope you will, too. Information is available in the newsletter and on the website or on Facebook. It is important these days to show our commitment to our communal Jewish home and our Jewish way of life in general. Your presence is welcome and significant. Together we make a strong statement of faith and continuity.

The membership committee is open and eager to hear from you on any matter of importance to you.
