November 2023 Sisterhood Message

It is just about the end of October, after a period of almost two months of holidays. It should have been a time for taking a deep breath and enjoying the relative quiet. But news last week from Israel was devastating and most of us are living with news hour by hour.
It has made our fun and successful Supper in the Sukkah seem far away. The committee of Joyce Olshan, Enid Perll, Joanne Singer, and Marian Katz, chaired by Joyce Gang, managed to combine fine weather, good food, good company, and Will Soll, who not only furnished the ambiance as we congregated, but later, led a sing-along.
Fran Kaar is still posting dues checks, so if you haven’t yet sent yours in, we hope that you will do so soon.
The Jewish Book Festival begins November 5th; and if you have any questions about tickets or speakers, you can contact Peggy Nehmen, our Sisterhood representative on the Book Festival committee.
We are still looking for a date with Rabbi Jessica Shafrin for her second installment of Feeding Women of the Talmud and Ourselves. Immediately after her first zoom program, everyone started clamoring for more.
May we continue to keep the State of Israel and its people in our thoughts. May we continue to pray for the safe return of hostages taken so violently as we mourn for those lost to heartless, inhumane murder.
