September 2018 Sisterhood Message

As your new Co-Presidents, Joyce Gang and Susan Brown, we’re humbled and nervous to be filling this role. Micki Kingsley has been President of Sisterhood for ten years, and shepherded us through simchas, sorrows, fun and transitions. She leaves a strong legacy and we are looking forward to her knowledge, advice and good humor guiding us forward.

As background, Joyce, married to Allen Levin, was a long time member of Shaare Zedek, and coordinated the Meals on Wheels program. Susan is a relatively new member of Kol Rinah, coming to the Shul in 2014, married to Men’s Club President Max.

First, thank you! Thank you to the Faye Keyser Fund for its sponsorship of three Kiddushes the past several months, as well as its funding of the annual end of Yom Kippur Break the Fast meal, catered by the Sisterhood. Our thanks also to Steve Kayman for the August 4th Kiddush thanking the Israel Trip, and to Marc and Lvav Spector for the Kiddush celebrating their daughter Claire’s Bat Mitzvah on September 1st. Mazel tov to the whole family.

All women are invited to join the Sisterhood, regardless of how little or how much time you have to spend. We share camaraderie, engage intergenerationally, and help the shul grow. Your nominal dues support our programs which enable us to provide financial and social support to the synagogue. Membership (or being female) is not a prerequisite for attending our events so please join us. Upcoming is our traditional vegetarian Supper in the Sukkah on Thursday, October 27th.

At this season we reflect on our actions and ask forgiveness of any one whom we have offended in our brief term as Co-Presidents. We’re new at this and ask for your patience and support as we learn, and we welcome your feedback and input.

L’Shanah Tovah,

Susan and Joyce
