Sisterhood

Spring has finally sprung! We had beautiful weather on April 7th, the date of our annual Torah Fund luncheon, a lovely event that raised funds to benefit the five international Conservative Seminaries. Thank you to all who made it so sweet. The monies raised, the camaraderie of Kol Rinah members, the hard work of those who helped in the cooking, buying and presenting, were exemplified by Linda Makler’s attention to detail. Of course we need to mention Irene Belsky, z”l, who had been Linda’s co-Chairman, and Ruth Levy, z”l, who always made Torah Fund as important to us as it was to them. Thank you to our member Karen Aroesty for her presentation on the current state of anti-Semitism in St. Louis and throughout the world.

We had a fun evening on March 2nd, at our annual Trivia Night to benefit both Sisterhood and Men’s Club. Enjoyed by all, the funds generated will help the Sisterhood and Men’s Club fulfill their missions to help the Shul.

Thank you to Steve and Nancy Keyser for the lovely and generous Faye Keyser Memorial Kiddush luncheon on April 6th, in memory of Steve’s Uncle Seymour, about whom we learned that day in Steve’s beautiful tribute to him.

Sisterhood is sponsoring a new program at Craft Central to help honor mothers and fathers on their special days. The Mother’s Day craft session was on April 28th and the Father’s Day will be on June 2nd. Make a one-of-a-kind gift for your parent on those days! All are welcome to drop in, choose from several lovely options, enjoy snacks provided by the Sisterhood, and create a unique item for your special person. 

On May 21st at 7:30 pm Sisterhood is offering a Zoom online Study with Scholars learning session on the topic of Jewish Women in American History with Dr. Pamela Nadell. Watch for more information and please join us as we learn together. 

Since Pesach is past, the Sisterhood hopes everyone had a zissen (sweet) Pesach. Now we look forward to Shavuot, the giving of the Torah, on Sunday June 9th. Spring and its holidays are joyfully upon us.
