May 2022 Sisterhood Message

Purim has come and gone, Passover has passed over and now it’s time for spring and for Shavout which translates to “weeks” in Hebrew and counts the number of weeks it took for the Jews wandering in the desert to reach Mt. Sinai. During Shavout many Jews bring the outdoors into their homes and synagogue by decorating with greenery and flowers. Also, many Jews stay up all night to study and symbolically prepare to receive the wisdom of the...Read more...

March 2022 Sisterhood Message

Thank you to all of our Sisterhood members.  We appreciate you, your generosity and what your dues have allowed Sisterhood to accomplish.  This year we will donate our usual $1,000 to the Shul’s Purim Mishloach Manot drive.  We have already given $1,000 to both our religious school, KoREH, and to our Monica Lynne Neidorff ECC.  When USY is allowed to have leadership training, we will help them also to go to out-of-town...Read more...

January 2022 Sisterhood Message

Thanksgiving, Hanukkah and New Years are behind us and it’s time to start thinking about our resolutions for the coming year. We all can make some changes to improve how we live our lives. What changes are you going to make in your life to become a better person?   Attending more services and programs at Kol Rinah is one way to improve your life. There is always room for more attendees at Shabbat services. And talking about Shabbat,...Read more...

November 2021 Sisterhood Message

We were conflicted between wanting to attend all the services for the High Holidays in person and being a little afraid. So, we did what many did, a little of both live stream and in-person. And while in-person had some anxiety, there was so much more feeling of it being the High Holidays and the community that we were thrilled to be a part of. Thank you to Kol Rinah for making both possible. Sisterhood thanks all who participated in our...Read more...

September 2021 Sisterhood Message

The High Holidays are just around the corner, and this is the time of year where we think about things we have done in the past year both good and bad. It’s also time to reflect on who we may have wronged and apologize for those wrongs.   This year we can attend services in person in our new and beautiful sanctuary and even have two types of services we can attend… one solemn and thoughtful and the second with a bit of music added in....Read more...

May 2021 Sisterhood Message

Sisterhood is a giving part of the Shul. And we have fulfilled one of our roles in the Shul by donating significant funds to the Shul by way of Mishloach Manot, funds to USY to allow them to go to conventions and conferences, to the ECC, to KoREH, our religious school, and to our Shul’s Capital Campaign. YOU have played a major part in that by your generous donations and your membership in Sisterhood.   Last Spring we were just seeing...Read more...

2021 March Sisterhood Message

While the weather is still teasing us by flip-flopping between winter and spring, it’s exciting to experience the anticipation that comes at this time of year. We’ve just enjoyed the silliness and merriment that accompanied Purim, albeit in an alternative way, but it was fun nonetheless. And as the world awakens for spring, so we are preparing for Pesach with both its new and familiar traditions, conflicting emotions of sorrow and happiness,...Read more...

2021 January Sisterhood Message

“Happy (secular) New Year! Such a different type of observance than our New Year of several months past."   This was written last year, comparing our High Holiday observance of getting together and celebrating Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur together, and then celebrating the secular new year. That was not the case this year as we had our wonderful services livestreamed from our beautiful new Sanctuary, but with no contact with others....Read more...

November 2020 Sisterhood Message

At this time, we usually look over the past year and comment on the lovely memories of the High Holidays and how we look forward to starting afresh in 5781. We would comment on the beautiful and successful Break the Fast dinner, and Sisterhood’s Supper in the Sukkah. We can just taste the chili and the super-stuffed baked potatoes. But, those programs didn’t happen this year because of COVID. Instead, our High Holidays, although beautifully...Read more...
